The property is located at the end of the street, which is directly adjacent to an expansive public park that brimmed with activities and becomes a hub for the local community. The gentrification of the suburb also meant that the local community demand a house design that’s appropriate to the real value of the area, being a close proximity to Melbourne CBD.

The owners are professional couple who works a lot from their home, which meant that this house will need to cater not only for their living needs but also their working arrangement as well. This is a house where business and pleasure lives side by side. This is a house where the office is next to the swimming pool, and in this post covid world, seems to become the norm. This house sets a new template for a house that allows its occupant to feel like they don’t need anywhere else, should a new pandemic comes alight, giving a certainty in an uncertain world.

The use of steel framing, brick veneer and aluminium cladding is extensively evident in the exteri or material of the house. This is a homage to the previous historical typology of Yarraville being an area filled with warehouse and industrial area, before its recent conversion into a posh suburb that’s popular amongst the younger generation.
