The design of this double storey house is inspired by the project brief from the owner, who wants a house that can be a forever home for his growing family that demands flexibility and scope for future works should the need for more space arise.

The look of the house needs to be modern with a design that’s everlasting and not dated. The need for exposure to natural lights on all rooms plays an important factor in the placement of the windows and inform the shape of the roof, which has a wraparound canopy that’s started from the top of the upper floor roof down to the canopy of the front porch in a continuous form.

Passive solar design principle is applied to ensure that although there are plenty of windows around the house, it will never be overheated during the summer period and too cold during the winter period, through the use of cross ventilation and shades that becomes the main design feature of the house. The bold use of 2 contrasting colours on the exterior is deliberate to further enhance the strong geometry of the house design.
